“What happens when multiple “instead” effects are applied to the same play?”

The most recently resolved “instead” effect would replace any other “instead” effects that have resolved earlier in the turn.

Example 1: Your opponent activates an effect that says “If this play would gain any number of yards, it gains 20 yards instead.” During the same Timing Point, you then activate an effect that says “If this play would gain any number of yards, it gains 10 yards instead.” Using LIFO resolution, your effect would resolve first, then your opponent’s effect would resolve next. The most recently resolved “instead” effect would win out, and the play would gain 20 yards.

Example 2: During the “Start of a Down” Timing Point, you use an effect that says “If a play would gain any amount of yards this turn, it gains 20 yards instead.” Later in the turn while resolving effects at a different Timing Point, your opponent uses an effect that says “If a play would gain any amount of yards this turn, it gains 30 yards instead.” When calculating yardage during Play Results, the most recently resolved “instead” effect would win out (and the play would gain 30 yards).
