7 DBs, 7 Tidbits: Win a Box!

Hello everyone! Check out the latest in Z news below:
1. Thanks to everyone for participating in last weekend’s Launch Events, we hope they were a blast!

2. The ARG circuit continues to provide off-season action, and you can find the full schedule here. As noted in the CRD, new releases in the DBZ TCG are eligible for tournament play one week after release. Starting this Saturday, Perfection is sure to make a splash on the ARG meta! Next up: Richmond (March 5th) and Detroit (March 19th).

3. Concept of the moment: Endurance is even better than you think. When evaluating the overall usefulness of a card, don’t underestimate just how much value is added by Endurance. Though an increasing amount of decks seek to prey on prevention, Endurance is still worth its weight in gold. During your next few matches, consider how many times you draw a card (and play it) vs. how many times it is discarded as damage (or not effective when played).

4. A frequently asked question from Perfection: When can Master Roshi Level 1 be activated?

Roshi’s Defense Power can only be activated against an attack, and you must have a Setup or Drill to in your hand to activate it. You would not be able to activate the Defense Power simply to gain 2 anger.

The CRD will be updated to Perfection in the near future.

5. Card on the rise: Defiant Challenge. It has obvious synergy with Master Roshi, but many other MPs are beginning to leverage this powerful UR from Evolution. Frieza combo decks were already running it, but the addition of Overwhelming Power has added further legitimacy to the archetype as a whole. Android 18’s influence is steadily increasing (Tag Team anyone?!), and Defiant Challenge combines with Android 18’s Toss to form a ruthlessly efficient search package.

6. You may have noticed a poster for Dragon Ball Z: Vengeance in your Launch Kit. We’re still quite a while out from releasing any info, but Broly looms large!

7. Which Perfection MP have you been playing the most? Sound off in the comment section below, and your name will be entered to win a box of Perfection (one comment per person). The winner will be announced on Friday – post soon!

  1. Android 16, trying to find where he fits best. Black Perceptive seems to work well with his card powers making up for not having Devious Mastery’s buff. Not quite ironed out but until I get a full set of Cell, 16’s the guy I’m running the most. I’ll find a home for the gentle ginger robot yet. – Travis

  2. Yamcha! Easily the best MP in the game by FAR, and his named cards, Expert Assistance and Rescue, are easily the best in the game. He is like Black Krillin went Super Saiyan!

  3. I have been playing Cell Namekian Restored!! With so many ways to auto level and fix your hand I can get to level 4 in the first two combats easy.

  4. I’ve been playing around with a few Cell builds trying to settle on a deck that I really like playing him in. So far level bouncing with Saiyan Empowered has been fun, but Red Ruthless and Black Perceptive are next on the testing list for him. After testing with Cell is finished I’ll most likely be building a Master Roshi deck with Blue Protective.

  6. Really loving everything yamcha right now. He is especially good in blue and black where his defensive package is insane. I’m going to try playing him with allies next.

  7. YAMAHA… OOPS, I mean YAMCHA! I’ve already built him in orange, now I’m thinking about black & blue.

  8. Yamcha has been getting the bulk of my attention in this set – passive damage and defense, coupled with a strong defensive package is too much to turn down!

  9. I’ve made decks for all the new MPs and tested them a bit , I will be staying with blue protective 17 trying to build it to have good match ups againts Yamcha and cell since those are the best early set 5 personalities, I look foward to see how the meta evolves this set

  10. Cell. With the new red drill that lets anyone be Turles, he can really bring the pain and keep his power stages up.

I love the new set guys, just a bunch of good cards all around, great job.

  11. I have been playing Roshi that most. That old man has some new tricks for this game and I love it. His style of play has forced me to step outside my style and learn new strategies for this game

  14. I’ve been running Yamcha a lot lately myself on the Red Enraged mastery.
Being able to Static Shot consistently while on level 2 is pretty destructive, especially when you go to level 3 in that combat.
Combine that with the Crushing Beams and Left Bolts after you’ve leveled you can have some pretty monster combats.

  15. Perfection is probably my favorite set so far, and the foil pattern is hands down my favorite. I’ve been tinkering around with Namekian Cell, although Blue Yamcha is starting to catch my eye….
