Check below for a full breakdown of the Chicago Regional!
The second Regional of the season took place last weekend, with 208 players making it out to the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosemont, IL. Nerd Rage Gaming did a phenomenal job hosting the event, and players seemed appreciative of the spacious venue!
The tournament featured one of the most diverse environments the game has ever seen, with a high level of representation for each Style. Saiyan Cell was one of the breakout decks of the tournament, landing two players in T16. Many notable decks hovered around the top tables all day and narrowly missed the elimination rounds – truly a staggering amount of strong builds on display! Devious Tenshinhan, Tag Team Piccolo, and numerous other decks made their presence felt (and seem poised to break through in the future).
After two former World Champions fell in T8, the T4 was comprised of primarily Red decks! In the finals, Eric Melone (Red Enraged Roshi DBV) defeated Lee Sheehan (Red Enraged Piccolo MPPV) – giving Red its second Regional win of the season. The T4 lists:
- Eric Melone* – Red Enraged Roshi
- Lee Sheehan* – Red Enraged Piccolo
- Ryan Lambdin – Black Devious Roshi
- Vincent DeLucca – Red Ruthless Turles
Congratulations to Eric Melone (undefeated on the day) and Lee Sheehan – the latest two players to qualify for Worlds! The Super Elite rankings have also been updated, with Melone moving into an early tie for first.
The final event of the Perfection metagame takes place this weekend in Oregon, and you can still pre-register here! Can the Red Style make it 3 for 3, or will something else step up to the plate before Vengeance?
Finally, Dragon Ball Z: Vengeance releases this Friday! Check your local store for Launch Event info, and the full checklist will be posted later this week.
