Hero decks have become an increasingly relevant piece of the metagame since the release of Heroic Charge, with both Midrange and Control variants making good use of its effect. Today’s build sacrifices the larger pool of Hero Characters to focus solely on Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman (“The Trinity”) – with the potential payoff of massive card advantage from a single Rank 7 Battle Card. This submission comes from Peter S., and he writes:
“With healing effects, targeting prevention, and Heroic Charge, I’m able to mount a solid offense without giving up ground on defense.”
Characters:
- Superman – Last Son of Krypton x3
- Superman – Big Blue Boy Scout x2
- Batman – Dark Knight x2
- Batman – Bruce Wayne x2
- Wonder Woman – Amazon Princess x3
- Wonder Woman – Princess Diana of Themyscira x1
- Firestorm – Nuclear Man x3
Events:
- Leap Into Action x2
- Heroic Charge x2
- Joke’s On You x2
Battle Cards:
- 1 Strength (U83-AT) x2
- 1 STR/INT (U86-BM) x2
- 2 Strength (C35-JL) x2
- 3 Special (C44-JL) x2
- 5 Strength (C50-JL) x2
- 5 Special (C54-BM) x3
- 7 Strength (U100-AT) x1
- 7 Strength (C60-BM) x1
- 7 Special (C41-JL) x3
The significant investment in Firestorm provides a catchall solution for pesky Constant effects (such as Mr. Freeze), and his ability to self-KO guarantees that he won’t clog up the Trinity combo. This list packs enough search power (through the doubly effective Leap Into Action) and recursion (1 STR/INT, 5 Special, Joke’s On You) to make sure the stars are aligned as often as possible for 7 Special to detonate and draw three cards. Much like all Midrange strategies, the lineup presented here looks to overwhelm the opponent in the Battle Zone – with the large Characters, large Battle Cards, and potentially large hand size culminating in a “Super Midrange.”
Other cards to consider:
- Finding room for Power Players allows Firestorm to swap out for other Characters
- such as Shazam, another powerhouse Midrange option
- Combat Mastery enables Bruce Wayne (or other Trinity alternates) to play the 7 Special
- Bonus overkill challenge: consider potential applications of Alfred Pennyworth – Loyal Servant to attempt drawing six cards in one shot!

I definitely love the idea of adding Shazam. Bouncing him back to hand to get the third member of the Trinity into play was something I tried in my version.
